Whole Life Evaluation
As we head into 2022, especially after an unprecedented year like 2021, it’s a perfect time to look at all areas of our lives and evaluate how everything is functioning. Work and personal life are entwined more than ever, especially for those working from home. If our personal life is not functioning as well as it should, it affects our working life in a negative way and vice versa.
To ensure you’re staying well-balanced (or to know where you should give a little extra oomph), here’s a simple method that we’ve found particularly helpful –
Rate each of the following areas of your life with how you are currently functioning on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being “everything is perfect and functioning as I want it to be” and 1 being “urgently needs course correction.” Be as honest as possible in your ratings.
- Work
- Family
- Social
- Financial
- Health
Once you have finished rating each area above, take a moment to jot down 2-3 goals that you have to improve each area of your life. The goal is to be able to get to a 5 by the end of the year.
Ok, so this is done. Now what? To help you stay on-course, copy and paste all of what you have written into a repeating calendar appointment that you can look at and ponder. (Pro tip: We suggest each Monday morning before you begin your work day.) Ask yourself how things are progressing in each area. Do you need to plan any scheduled blocks of time that week to help you achieve progress? Get those tasks in the calendar and make it happen!
If you feel you have done everything you can on one of your goals, feel free to adjust or make new ones, as necessary. Remember, this is for you to achieve more balance in your day and to find more peace, love and success in every aspect of your life.
